On Going Projects...

Rescuing Grandma's Gift...

On a chilly day like today, the thought of a comfy armchair, a cozy blanket, a hot cup of mocha-peppermint coffee, and a good book beckons.
However, unfortunately, I have been reminded that none of that can happen until I address a heartbreaking mishap that happened to my favorite childhood book a few years back.

A story by C.S. Lewis I fell in love with when I was in the 3rd grade, and my grandmother bought this copy for me.

Over the years, I've babied it, never letting anybody else read it for fear they might mess it up. However,  years later, that exact thing happened while traveling in my daughter's diaper bag's outer pocket. She loved to hear me read it to her, so I carried it with us, and little did we know that on this particular trip, her bottle had been leaning, and unfortunately, leaking on it in the car. I did everything I could to clean it, but there wasn't much I could do by the time I got to it. And for fear of destroying it further, I cleaned it as best I could, let it dry, and packed it away.

Hoping that one day I could figure out a way to make it beautiful again...And today is that day.

Keep in mind this is a sentimental book that will stay in my family for years to come, and so I have no great fear of harming its "value," as you can see by the damage that's already gone.
My goal now is to enhance its "sentimental" value for my children and future grandchildren.

It will now and forever become a family heirloom. 💕👵🏻👩🏻👧💕

This will be a labor of love, so I will be taking my time with this process and weighing my decisions on how I want to go about this project.
I'll keep you updated.
